Healthy Homes Program

August is National Wellness Month...

One aspect of wellness is having and maintaining a healthy home. CCE Albany County educators can help county residents by sharing their knowledge, providing needed items, and making appropriate referrals on the following issues: cleaning with environmentally friendly products, testing your home for radon, updating smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, receiving a lead assessment, daily damp wiping surfaces (especially for those households with young children), and controlling asthma. There is no charge for the Healthy Homes program and no income requirements. For more information about CCE Albany’s free Healthy Homes program email Diane at dfp46@cornell.edu or call 518-765-3512.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County is offering a free Healthy Homes Program in the Hilltowns of Albany County.

Trained educators schedule a home visit* and identify environmental issues by asking residents questions from a standardized assessment form. Residents are educated about these concerns and provided referrals and follow up resources. Free cleaning, safety, and health products are also distributed to improve the home living environment. Residents can sign-up themselves and referrals are also accepted from medical entities, schools, and organizations.

For more information and to schedule a home visit call 518-765-3512 or register online at:  https://pub.cce.cornell.edu/event_registration/mai...

*We are now offering telephone visits & dropping supplies (without contact) at your door! Call us at 518-765-3512 for more information.
