Co-hosted by Rachel Moody of CAAHP and Amy Barkley of SWNYDLFC
This event is one of four statewide roadshow stops, offering farmers a full processing experience.
Starting out in poultry production means learning skills that build confidence, reduce costs, and
strengthen your farm’s independence. This hands-on workshop gives farmers the chance to process
a bird from start to finish, learning every step of the workflow used by small farms across the region.
Each participant receives one bird to process & take home, gaining real experience with:
• Humane handling and proper dispatching
• Scalding and plucking using correct temperatures and timing
• Evisceration techniques with sanitation checkpoints
• Chill tank management for food safety
• Shrink-bag packaging and labeling
• Safe transport and storage of your finished bird
Registration required.
