The EPA Lead Abatement Worker training is a 2-day (16-hour) course that teaches on-site workers about the dangers of lead, the roles and responsibilities of a worker, local, State and Federal regulations, and safe lead abatement methods. Abatement is any set of measures designed to permanently eliminate lead-based paint hazards.Abatement work that is not conducted by a Certified Lead Abatement Worker under direction of a Lead Abatement Supervisor is subject to heavy fines by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or applicable Authorized State Lead Program. This course is offered in person and includes both training and course completion certificate for lead abatement workers. Certified abatement firms must have certified Lead Abatement Workers on site who have completed lead abatement training from an approved training provider and have processed the necessary paperwork with the EPA or Authorized State. Training concludes with the required Lead Worker course certification exam.
