The Weatherization Assistance Program helps to lower energy costs, conserve energy and improve the health and safety standards to low income households throughout New York State. The program is administered by New York Homes and Community Renewal.

Weatherization measures may consist of: air sealing holes or cracks within the home, window/door repair/replacements, insulation in sidewalls and attic, heating repair/replacements, inefficient lighting, installing low flow shower heads, and other measures required to reduce the energy burden. A determination of improved measures is conducted through an Energy Audit and by the State of New York’s Target Investment Protocol Systems (TIPS) software. Weatherization is not a window/door replacement entity.

Homeowners, renters and landlords with property in the County of Albany are encouraged to apply. A landlord contribution is required in some cases. For more information on the program please call 518-765-3539.

EmPower NY assists low and limited income residents with cost-effective electric reduction measures, particularly lighting and refrigerator replacements, as well as other home performance strategies such as insulation, and health and safety measures.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) contracted with Honeywell International to implement the EmPower NY program. For additional information please call 518-765-3539.
